Dr. Marina Velikova

Senior researcher in computer science.

Marina Velikova is a senior researcher in computer science at Radboud University Nijmegen. Before that, she was a researcher at Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre. She obtained her Masters Degree in Artificial Intelligence from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", Bulgaria and her PhD degree in Operations Research from Tilburg University, The Netherlands.

Her main research interests include topics such as knowledge representation and reasoning, decision-support systems, and intelligent data analysis. Her recent work focuses on the development of probabilistic models for decision support in medicine and industry. From a methodological point of view, she concentrates on modelling techniques for combining multiple sources of information to reduce uncertainty and to improve automated decision-making. In the context of the COMMIT/Metis project this concerns the fusion of various data about vessels to facilitate maritime safety and security tasks.
