NWO VENI Grant

Jacopo Urbani, of COMMIT/project IV-e: e-Infrastructure Virtualization for e-Science Applications ánd working closely with COMMIT/project Data2Semantics: From Data to Semantics for Scientific Data Publishers has been awarded a VENI grant by NWO!

This grant will allow Urbani to carry out his research project "A reasonable web: can computers use the Web to reason and answer difficult questions"? Jacopo Urbani and collegues will investigate methods to estimate the difficulty of reasoning and approximate it in order to use the entire Web to find intelligent answers for difficult questions.

A Veni grant is worth a maximum of 250,000 euros and is one of the individual grants from NWO to encourage scientific talent. This year, 155 proposals of the total 1001 proposals submitted were granted.

Jacopo defended his PhD thesis in January this year and obtained the degree cum laude. In 2012, he won the "Most Promising Young Researcher Award" of the VU Network Institute.
