ABOUT EMBEDDED SYSTEMS INNOVATION BY TNO (TNO-ESI)

High-tech embedded systems impact almost every aspect of our lives: how we work, live and communicate. They are at the heart of many innovative products and applications. New products and services based on embedded systems technology emerge every day, making state-of-the-art design and engineering competencies a key competitive discriminator.

As these systems become ever more complex, maintaining the skills and knowledge needed to stay ahead in industrial product innovation is a growing challenge for companies, large or small. By pooling resources and sharing knowledge and expertise in an open innovation ecosystem, these challenges are much easier to overcome. TNO-ESI partners in an open innovation structure with experts from industry and academia, to develop and share new approaches and technologies for creating tomorrow's embedded systems.

Originally founded in 2002 by industry-leading technology companies ASML, Océ, Philips and TNO along with the top technical universities of Delft, Eindhoven and Twente in the Netherlands, the former Embedded Systems Institute (ESI) was integrated in TNO as Embedded Systems Innovation by TNO, as per 1 January 2013.
