Interactive ball is catching on

Dennis Reidsma and Robby van Delden, of COMMIT/project IUALL, have collected the first results of their project ‘The interactive ball’.

They developed the interactive ball for people with profound (intellectual) (and) multiple disabilities’: people with an intellectual development of a child of 24 months or less. The ball is colorful and produces sound. The player can command the ball to roll to the right or to the left. It gives disabled people, who are completely dependent on others, a sense of control. Reidsma: ‘The first results are surprisingly positive. The players have fun with the interactive ball, and seem to show initiative during play.’
